Our Journey Through Time
1915
The first Sikh place of worship in Melaka was established in a small rented house by the early Sikh settlers, primarily police officers and traders.
1920s
A permanent site on Jalan Temenggong was acquired. The foundation of what would become the current Gurdwara Sahib Melaka was laid.
1930s
Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji arrived in Melaka, bringing profound spiritual guidance. Under his leadership, the Gurdwara became a center for community service and humanitarian aid.
1941-1945
During the Japanese occupation, the Gurdwara served as a refuge and support center for the community under Sant Ji's guidance.
1972
Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji passed away, leaving behind a rich spiritual legacy. The Gurdwara continued to grow in his honor.
1980s-2000s
Major renovations and expansions were undertaken to accommodate the growing number of devotees, particularly during the annual Barsi celebrations.
2022
The 50th Golden Jubilee Barsi was celebrated, marking half a century of honoring Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji's legacy.
Today
Gurdwara Sahib Melaka continues to serve the Sikh community and the broader public, maintaining its dual mission of spiritual guidance and community service.
