Join us for the 53rd commemoration of Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji's Barsi. This annual event brings together thousands of devotees from across Malaysia and around the world to honor Sant Ji's legacy through prayers, kirtan, and community service.

Schedule Overview:

  • Day 1 (22nd May): Kirtan Darbar
  • Day 2 (23rd May): Commencement of Akhand Path
  • Day 3 (24th May): Main prayers and community service events
  • Day 4 (25th May): Akhand Path Da Bhog

What is Barsi?

Barsi is an annual commemoration ceremony to honor the memory and legacy of Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji, who dedicated his life to spiritual service in Malaysia from the 1930s until his passing in 1972. Each year, devotees gather to remember his teachings, celebrate his contributions, and renew their commitment to the values he embodied.

The event typically includes continuous reading of the Guru Granth Sahib (Akhand Path), kirtan (devotional music), katha (religious discourses), langar (community kitchen serving free meals), and various charitable activities. It has grown from a small local gathering to a major spiritual event that attracts thousands of visitors from across Southeast Asia and beyond.

Santji's 51st Salana Yaadgiri (Barsi) was held on 18th to 21st May 2023.

The 51st Barsi saw thousands of devotees from across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and other countries coming together to pay their respects. Special arrangements were made to accommodate the large crowds, with volunteers working around the clock to ensure smooth operations.

Santji's 50th Salana Yaadgiri (Barsi) was held on 19th to 22nd May 2022.

Golden Jubilee Anniversary:

The 50th anniversary was marked with special ceremonies and events to honor five decades of preserving Santji's legacy. As a milestone year, the celebrations were expanded with additional programs:

  • Akhand Path Sahib
  • Extended kirtan sessions with international performers
  • Community service initiatives in honor of Santji's humanitarian work
  • Special langar arrangements serving thousands daily

BARSI 2012 - 40th Anniversary

Santji's 40th Salana Yaadgiri (Barsi) was held from 24th to 27th May 2012.

Akhand Path commenced with a large crowd in attendance. The atmosphere was filled with devotion as prayers began for this significant 40th anniversary commemoration.

Preparations Before The Event

Preparation for the biggest event saw many Sewadars participating to ensure this milestone celebration would be memorable. The gurdwara premises underwent special decoration and cleaning, with volunteers working around the clock.

Sukha Parshad Preparation

Sukha Parshad was prepared on 13th May 2012. Sewa began at 9am and continued until 1:30pm. For this special service, many Sewadars came together to complete the task. According to Sdr Jaspal Singh, one of the sewadars, 180kg of Sukha Parshad was prepared in anticipation of the 40th Barsi celebration.

Additionally, the ladies prepared 'sakerpare' and 'mithayian', traditional cookies well-known among Sikhs, to be shared with all visitors.
